India's Longest Access-Controlled Expressway - Connecting Two Megacities
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is a monumental infrastructure project spanning 1,350 km, designed to connect India's capital with its financial hub. This 8-lane expressway (expandable to 12 lanes) significantly reduces travel time from 24 hours to just 12 hours.
Construction began with the foundation stone laid in March 2019. The project is expected to be fully operational by 2027, with several sections already open to traffic. The total project value is around ₹1,00,000 crores (~US$13.1 billion).
The expressway includes over 2,000 water recharge points, extensive tree plantations, animal overpasses for wildlife protection, and India's first dedicated electric lane for EV trucks and buses.
Advanced safety features include surveillance cameras, well-designed road markings, state-of-the-art toll plazas, and modern traffic management systems to ensure a safe and efficient driving experience.
